Jessica Miller

Hello! My name is Jessica Miller and I am a Technology Integration Specialist. This position gives me the exciting opportunity to assist other educators as they integrate technology into their classrooms, research best instructional practices, and find ways to motivate students while enhancing their learning.

In the summer of 2001, I received my bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. That fall I began teaching fourth grade at Lincoln Elementary School in Pana, Illinois. I continued to do so for ten years. During this time in the elementary classroom I developed a passion for the use of technology in education.

In the summer of 2010 I received my master’s degree in Instructional Technology from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Completing my masters degree had always been a career goal of mine, but I wanted to find the right time in my life to go back to school and to find the right program for my interests. I was immediately drawn to the Instructional Technology Program at SIUE. My experiences in the masters program provided me the opportunity to use and implement new technology tools into my classroom, while sharing, reflecting, and discussing these tools and strategies with other colleagues and peers.

Outside of education, I enjoy spending time with my family. My husband, Matt, teaches 7th grade social studies. My daughter, Isabella, is a second grader busy with soccer, baseball, piano, and about any other activity she can squeeze into her schedule. Running is definitely my stress reliever! I enjoy training for long distance road races. I am currently training for my fourth marathon.
